The Orang Kaya-Kaya Panglima Bukit Gantang Seri Amar DiRaja was the feudal warden of the western marches (peminggang kanan). He held the pass that led from the Perak river to the plains of Larut. He received some income from the district, but at a later date the Menteri (who was related to the Panglima Bukit Gantang) secured all the revenues of Larut for himself. There is now no longer a Panglima Bukit Gantang. His wife was ranked as a To’ Puan.
