The death of DYMM Raja Perempuan Ta’ayah, 1962

DYMM Raja Perempuan Taayah binti Raja Abdul Hamid passed away on 18 February 1962 and was survived by her consort, Almarhum DYMM Sultan Yusuf Izzudin Shah, who in turn mangkat the following year in 1963. She was Raja Razman’s eldest sister.

Raja Perempuan Taayah passed on after a second heart attack within a week in the morning at 4.40 am. Hundreds attended the funeral, which included the DYMM Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Tunku Abdul Rahman, the then Prime Minister, at the Royal Mausoleum where she was laid to rest near the makam of Almarhum Sultan Abdul Aziz in accordance to her wish. Almarhumah was seen by many as a queen of the rakyat.
