These written documents were written in recognition of the ownership of the Larut area to Che’ Long Jaafar and his descendants. The first was signed by Raja Ngah Ali* ibni Sultan Shahabuddin Shah (sanctioned by his father, Almarhum Sultan Shahabuddin) on 5 November 1850, whilst the second was signed by Almarhum Sultan Jaafar Muazzam Shah on 7 May 1856.
[*]It is not known what rank Raja Ngah Ali held during his father’s reign over Perak, but he was then Raja Muda to Almarhum Sultan Jaafar Muazzam Shah in 1856 and later succeeded the throne as Sultan Ali Al-Mukammal Inayat Shah in 1865.
