The deputies of the great chiefs (Orang Besar) of Perak

The ‘Four’ and the ‘Eight’ here refers to the Orang-Orang Besar Empat and Lapan of Perak. It need to be noted some of the titles in late 19th century Perak have been abolished (eg Sri Maharaja Lela) and may differ to those seen today. These deputies were described by Wilkinson as important as heirs of very powerful territorial magnates, despite the subordinate roles to the orang-orang besar.
