Raja Ariffin ibni Almarhum Sultan Mansur Shah I was the third son of Sultan Mansur Shah I. Upon the demise of his brother, Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin, in 1584, Raja Ariffin was appointed the 4th Sultan of Perak and was styled Sultan Tajul Ariffin.
Sultan Tajul Ariffin resided at Pulau Semat and reigned over Perak for 10 years. During his reign, his elder brother, who was also the Sultan of Acheh, mangkat and the whole family returned to Perak.
Sultan Tajul Ariffin mangkat in 1594 and was interred in Pulau Semat, Mukim Senggang, Kuala Kangsar, about 3 km to the north of Manong. His wife named Puteri Ajaib was also later interred next to him. Sultan Tajul Ariffin was known posthumously as Marhum Mangkat Di-Tebing.
