“[Nombor 5 dalam Malay sekretari[1] 173/39]

Qauluhul haq

[Paduka Seri Sultan Abdul Aziz Al Mutasim Billah Shah yang Dipertuan negeri Perak Darul Ridzuan Ibni Almarhum Raja Muda Musa, سنةsannah[2] 1357.][3]

Hal inilah sahaja ayahanda nyatakan adanya.

Tertulis dalam opis kerajaan Malay sekretari Sultan Perak Kuala Kangsar.
Pada 2 haribulan Disember 1939.”

Footnote:
[1] Note the interesting way to write ‘Malay Secretary’ in jawi!
[2] sannah – the arabic for ‘year’
[3] The inscription in Sultan Abdul Aziz’s ‘chop’ (seal/official stamp)
[4] Note the usage of the colloquial ‘kecik’ as opposed to ‘kecil’ in those days.
[5] Another peculiarity, the Malay word for ‘High Commissioner’ was non-existent then (now we have the term Pesuruhjaya Tinggi), and again a jawi transcription of an English term. The then High Commissioner (also Governor of the Straits Settlements) in 1939 was Sir Shenton Thomas.

The jawi transcription has been provided by Norhaslinda Ahmad and Raja Faizal Raja Muzaffar, with thanks.
