The Iskandar brothers, DYTM Raja Muda Idris (standing fifth from right, later Sultan Idris), YAM Raja Ahmed Sifuddin (front, second from left, later Raja Muda) and YAM Raja Mohamed (front, third from left).

The two of Iskandar[1] brothers, Allahyarham YAM Raja Mohamed and DYTM Almarhum Raja Ahmed Siffudin, were known to be accomplished horseback riders, but it was speedboat racing that they were better recognized and respected for during the 1950s.

In the waters, they were fierce rivals and tested their prowess in race after race until the demise of Raja Mohamed in 1961. Here, in these pictures, taken at the speedboat race in Lumut on 30 August, 1959, Raja Mohamed triumphed while his younger brother emerged second.

  1. Salams Dear editor(s),

    Thank you for publishing this.

The last picture, of my dad in Damak, was a newspaper cutting actually.

I like the picture of the prize giving the most .. from the playful demeanour of my dad, the simplicity of the set-up to the proximity of the spectators with their Raja Perempuan (this I appreciate the most).
