Celluloid memories: Poppy Day commemoration in Taiping, 1955

These photographs were taken at the Poppy Day commemoration ceremony held at Taiping in 1955 with Almarhum DYAM Raja Di-Hilir Kamaralzaman in attendance. This photo below shows Raja Kam with the General Officer Commanding of the 1st Federal Division based at Taiping (on the left) and the District Officer for Larut and Matang.

Poppy Day or Remembrance Day is commemorated annually on the 2nd Sunday in November to remember the war dead, the British equivalent to Hari Pahlawan in Malaysia.
