DYMM Raja Zarith Sofia binti Sultan Idris Shah was born on 14 August 1959. She was educated at the Cheltenham Ladies’ College and later at Somerville College, Oxford. She is the Chairperson of the Community Services Committee of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, a Royal Fellow at the School of Language and Linguistic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and writes the column Mind Matters for The Star.

Briefly, DYMM Sultan Ibrahim ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Iskandar Al-Haj was born on 22 November 1958 and was made Tunku Mahkota of Johor in 1981. Sultan Ibrahim was installed as the Sultan of Johor on 23 January 2010 following the demise of his father, Sultan Mahmud Iskandar. Sultan Ibrahim received prior military training at Fort Benning in Georgia and Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

  2. Living and growing up in Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar.. I am proud to say that.. I attended this grand wedding reception.. The whole 100 days & 100 nights.. Yup.. its that big.. far beyond your imagination… Was only 8 years old then.. dad was an employee at DYMM office, its granted me the access into the palace.. BTW, I still do have those exclusive marble eggs, plates, books etc that were parts of gifts to honorable guests.. maybe it’ll become some sort of collectors items some day…

  3. Wish they had gotten married in 1982 then I would have been in KK.
    It is funny that I’m one of the minority in the country that would think of Kuala Kangsar when I heard the word KK. Most people in Malaysia would think of Kota Kinabalu.
    5 years in that town definitely left quite a mark on me.
